Mother Teresa Shelter Home

The Mother Teresa Shelter Home is an orphanage for boys located in Kovvur, Andhra Pradesh, India. The home currently cares for 30 boys from ages one to fourteen. These young boys were found on the streets working as child beggars after they had been abandoned by their parents. The organization is registered with the Central Government of India and is run by Mr. Vijaya Kumar. Although the home is registered with the state, the funds received by the state are inconsistent, meaning that they run primarily off donations from local donors.

The boys live together in one home and upon arrival, receive tutoring and counseling. Later, they are sent to a nearby public school. As of now, they are in need of desktop computers for the boys as they get older and learn more about technology in their schools, as well as a deep freezer for the food they eat. We believe that together, as a community, we can raise the funds for the basic needs of this home and greatly impact the lives of these young boys in India who have been given an opportunity to live a life off of the streets with the support and encouragement required for the development of any child.
